"OTIS" THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO

DJ DURL x WTT REVIEW

The build up was totally crazy and with it not leaking, in these days, that’s a crazy accomplishment in itself. My one worry about the album was that it might be a little too over our (meaning regular people’s) head. I mean, they don’t have our type of issues. We might not be able to relate. Im gonna keep it short and get to it.

1) No Church for The Wild (ft Frank Ocean and The Dream) – Get start, very mood building. Like a thriller movie. Me and my visual mind, I see songs, I make my own videos. It sounds dark, but paints the picture of how can you put fear in a monster. Someone who doesn’t fear anything. One of two good looks for Frank Ocean on the album.

2) Lift Off (ft Beyonce) – Has a great beginning, a nice build up and message, I just get lost with the execution. It feels as if this was a reference track. Kanye mumbles through the first verse. It was cool for Ryan Leslie to speak Gibberrish, but we been waiting too long for this Ye’. Open your mouth. I live the way Jay rides the beat (pause), but that’s how I feel about most of the album.

3) N-words in Paris – The starts of with, as it sounds like, a sound bite of Blades of Steel, right into a simple beat that builds in to a nod-inducing, bass thumping track. This is the one track I gotta hear in the club. “Ball so hard MF’s wanna fine me, that sh—Cra.. “ will be repeated through the night when this is played. Its full of clever quips that will be seen on Twitter time lines til the next Jay Z album drops. I like the competitive spirit between Jay and Ye' after the beat changes. They seem like that going back and forth on who is gonna kill it. Jay -“I got that hot B----- in my home”.. Ye – “You know how many hot B-----es I own?”

4) Otis – This where I feel they did what we NEEDED to hear in a collaborative album. We need some back and forth. We need some Run DMC type rhyming. We wanna feel like they in the same booth, ready to one-up each other. This sample is dope in my opinion. I just don’t like that crazy James Brown screaming at the end

5) Gotta Have It – But that screaming goes right into a James Brown (Don’t Tell A Lie About Me..) sampled beat we they spitting back and forth about how hard it is out here for a baller. Sure it is. The beat is the best thing about this one.

6) New Day – This one has a common Nina Symone “Feeling Good” sample that the RZA chopped up wonderfully. This make me was just drive with the sunroof open and ride. This is an ode to their unborn sons. Kanye exclaims that he would never let him live the life that he has. He wants him to be loved way more than his father has been. Jay states he has already ruined his life because of his sin and fame. He would want to do the simple things, like go to the barber shop and share a drink. He also pledges to never leave him. GREAT record.

7) That’s My B----h – This one has a very European feel to it to me. The beat will have to fist pumpin, head nodding and breaking. You can hear the sample of “Apache” during the break down and when Charlie Wilson ( I think it is) comes in, it just takes the song to 10 to me. Shout to Jay repping for the ladies of color on his verse. How many times do you hear Wylona referenced in a rap. I know B respects his props to her in this one.

8) Welcome to the Jungle – This one is produced by Swizz Beat and this one is more poetic then the other songs. The beat isn’t want really catches you. You expect more from Swizz Beatz but they do the beat more justice than expected. They speak of how the streets are a jungle. Jay cleverly speaks on how the the jungle has taken some of favorite legends (Big, Pac and Pimp C) and how we gotta beware of the streets.

9) Who Gone Stop Me – This is another euro, dub-step inspired sampled song that is crazy in some good speakers. I love how the they are changing and evolving their music throughout the whole album. This is a “Cant Stop, Wont Stop” anthem type song. The beat changes and sounds like a machine factory type sound. I don’t completely like it, but as a fan I respect it. Since I been listening to this type of music lately, I know what they are trying to do. Jay floats through all the beat changes like a pro tho.

10) Murder to Excellence- This is also speaking on how the streets are killing us. Ye speaks on his hometown warzone and compares it to Iraq. We all know how crazy the Chi-town has been. I love how they don’t ignore these things. At least musically. Very powerful song coupled with the LaLa’s of the kids in the background. Very strong.

11) Made In America (Ft Frank Ocean) – The Second good look for the Oddfuture rep. This one is a GREAT song. Ye speaks on his promise to his mom be great and to make it in America . Jay speaks on his grown from selling dope, to dope lines.

12) Why I love You – This is definitely Jay’s vent for the issues he has had with Dame and Beans.

13) Illest MFer Alive – comes after an almost 3 min break in music. One of the coldest track in my opinion. Seems like a answer to Waynes “Best Rapper Alive”. Jay and Ye spit quoteables through the WHOLE song. “Got staples on my D--- , Why? Fu—ing CENTERFOLDs”. Its simple and fun to me. Some times you just wanna talk wreckless. This is the one. Jay speaks that he is shooting towards Beatles fame since he already beat Elvis’ record.

Overall I give this a 4 outta 5. I’ve had it on repeat since I heard it. I find new lines or figure out new concepts each time. I like that. I think the music is progressive and I don’t think it sounds like any other type of American rap out right now. I think they took and chance on these songs, and didn’t fail too many times to me. Classic? Time will tell.

WATCH THE THRONE ALBUM REVIEW

The time has finally come and Watch the Throne can now officially be heard. Upon hearing about this album I labled it an instant classic becasue whats better than having 2 of your favorite rappers make an album together. I've been rockin wit Kanye since the release of College Dropout and i've been down ever since (while slightly over-looking 808's and Heartbreaks, he was goin thru something i respect it but dont fully accept it). Any who I was more than excited about this album and i must say that I was fairly pleased with the outcome. The digital version of the album dropped on 8/8/11, hard copy is due to drop 8/12/11 (only real n-words wit money can get they cd dropped on a day besides Tuesday), and the deluxe version slated for 8/23/11,this is what i'll be reviewing. Now im gonna review this album in the simplest fashion that I can to show you how I viewed it, while my view may be a tad bit biased, I feel like if you are a fan of music then you have no choice but to respect this album, I feel like its what every fan of Jay and Ye have wanted. So let me stop rambling and get into, im gonna present this in bullet form and I pulled some lines from the songs that I personally think were dope, that people will be quoting in real life, tweets and wherever there is an outlet of expression, ive also rated each song on a 5 star scale that will sum up my conclusion.....HERE WE GO

1.No Church in the Wild ft. Frank Ocean _ 3.5
- Dope intro
- Attention grabbing title
- Production is CRAZY!!
- Did Hov let Ye use auto tune on the track tho?
- "God is the carpenter, Ye lay beats"-Jay Z

- Makes a comparison to Lebron and Wade
- "Racks on racks on racks, Maybachs on bachs on bachs on bachs on bachs"- Ye
- "I wish i could give u this feelin, im plankin on a million"- Jay Z

6.New Day _ 5
- Letter to unborn sons
- Ye basically explains his life, faults, and wrong doings, and does not want
his son to go down the same road.Wants him to be loved by all.
- "Dear unborn son i already ruined ya, you aint born yet and paparazzi already
persuin ya"- Jay Z
- Jay also swears to never leave his children like his father did him.

7.Thats my bitch _ 4
- 90's style beat over sample
- Hov flowed hard about B,I guess he would if you listened to B's 4 album
- "How could somethin so gangsta, look pretty in pictures"
- "Back to my Beyonce's you deserve 3 stacks for the Andres"
- "You belong with niggas that used to be known for dope dealin, you too dope
for any of those civilians"
- Did anybody else catch his reference to Thelma from Good Times??

8.Welcome to the jungle _ 3.5
- Swizzy on the beat
- Jay is on his dope boy flow
- "Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5, I died in my sleep, im still
big pimpin"

9.Who gone stop me _ 3
- Least favorite track
- "so many watches only one arm"- Jay Z
- "Heard yeezy was racist, well i guess its so unbasis, I only like green faces"
- "could been a chemist cuz i cook smart"- Jay Z

10.Murder to Excellence _ 5
- Ye spit Chicago murder facts- not the 1st time he's done this (Everything I am)
- "314 soldiers died in Iraq, 509 died in Chicago"
- Dope Track and Crazy beat
- Many references to Black
- "aint nothing on the news but the blues"

11.Made in America_ 3
- Frank Ocean kills the vocals on this one
- "this aint no fashion show, motherfucker we live it"
- "We made it in America"
- Seems like a Homage track to me

12.Why I love you ft. Mr Hudson _ 3.5
- "Fuck you squares, the circle got smaller
- "when the grief is over, the beef is over, i'll be fly when easters over"-Jay
- Jay speakin to haters but mostly to the members of the Roc-a-fella Dynasty
- still says he has love for them through all the beef, words, and conflict

13.Illest Motherfucker Alive _ 4.5
- N-words is gone be screamin this hook
- Yeezy murdered this
- "Damn baby, pussy cant be ya only hustle"- Ye
- "Got staples on my dick, Why? Fuckin centerfolds"-Ye
- "Michael Jordan swag, ya'll think Michael Jordan bad, nigga i got 5 more rings
than Michael Jordan had"- Jay
- Could have given it a 5 but I feel like something is missing, maybe a feature.

14.H.A.M _ 4
- 1st radio single
- "Just forget it, you talk it i live it"- Ye
- Jay Z whole verse is quotable

15. Primetime_ 2
- "Primetime beat by Dion"- Jay
- "15 minutes got stretched beyond"- Jay
- I wasnt too impressed with this joint, hence the 2 rating.

16.The Joy ft. Curtis Mayfield _ 5
- Another sample-dope beat by Pete Rock
- "I never understood planned parenthood, cuz i never met nobody planned to be
a parent in the hood"- Ye
- "This beat deserves Hennessy,a bad bitch, and a bag of weed the holy trinity"-Ye
- Ye and Jay both kill this equally

Whew we made it through the whole Deluxe version of the album!!! So with all the song ratings and different points that I took from the songs i give Watch The Throne an overall rating of 4 out of 5, nothing short of my minimal expectations from these two heavy hitters. This is the type of music i've waited for from these 2 and i got it and hopefully this is only Volume 1. Now as I am a fan of both artist, I think its safe to say that Jay Z can boast in the top spot for the flow on this album over Ye, while Ye held his own, most of his verses sound like they came completely off the top of his head, not knocking him because almost everything he gets on he kills it. Maybe this was a chance for him to be like his Big Brother wit no pen and paper, either way the outcome is good music that I will be listening to for a while. Watch The Throne.....go cop it.

DATING

If you listen to the 8/4/2011 episode of FFR , you know that the topic of the night was DATING. i got a lot of feedback from listeners because they felt like our guest didn't express what women really want as far as dating is concerned. .. so i'll compile all the feedback i got into this blog and sprinkle a few of my opinions in there along the way.

Personally i feel like MEN in today's society don't know how to date and WOMEN have very high standards. most of the time when you ask a women what makes a man date worthy, she will say :

1. NO KIDS
2. NICE JOB
3. NICE CAR
4. NICE SIZE BANK ACCOUNT
5. DECENT CREDIT
6. INDEPENDENT
7. EDUCATED

the list goes on...

But a lot of the times women who are screaming that they want all of these things, cant meet these standards themselves. How can you say you want a man with no kids when you have 2 or 3 of your own? How can you want an "independent" man when you live with your parents, or you have a roommate? in my personal opinion i feel, like whatever you are asking of someone else to bring to the table you need to be bringing to the table as well.. Don't expect a 5 -star man when your a 3-star chick.

To expect a man to take you to an overly expensive restaurant on the first date.. umm hell no, what makes you think that your worth it on the first date. LET'S FACE FACTS .. the first date is simply to get to know that person, and who the hell told you that getting to know you was worth an expensive meal, you might be boring as hell and not even worth APPLEBEES HAPPY HOUR and just because a man does not want to take you to an expensive restaurant on the first date does not mean he can not afford it... he just doesnt want to spend it a women he barely knows.

Dating is a two way street, yes a lot of the responsibility will fall on the man, but damn ladies don't expect the man to do absolutely everything. Its ok if you plan a date for a man every now and again, its not absolutely unheard of.. and dont expect a man to take to you a restaurant and spend X amount of money, that you wouldn't spend on him.. wtf.. what makes you think this man wants to spend money on a girl that wouldn't do the same for him.. WHOMP.

I have realized that alot of the women who have these outlandish standards are manly the ones who flood twitter with the *niggas aint shit/ niggas are all the same* tweets. alot of the lonely tweets come from them. not saying that those in a relationship dont have standards because thats absolutely not the case, but most of the time if your in a relationship you understand that it's a give and take situation.

Girls who act stuck up are like challenges to men, they want to see if they can get this snooty chick into them, once they get the drawls and the chick starts to get into him, they quit that particular chick, and the girl is slightly salty ... * cue the niggas aint shit tweets*

The concept of dating is so far gone, in my opinion everyone needs to go back to the original concept, meet someone and get to know them. Its not always about the physcial attraction its about getting to know someone and seeing if they could possible meet your qualifications for a lifemate. if you go on a few dates with someone and you realize they arent the one for you no problem... just move on.. its not about the amount of money that was spent or the gifts that were purchased.. because in reality all of those material things mean absolutely NOTHING.
