“Yo DJ aint no DJ”- SUBMITTED BY @DJDURL

“I think I wanna DJ”
“Will you teach me how to spin”
“It looks easy, I know all the songs”

All phrases DJ’s hate but hear so often. Nowadays, everyone thinks they can be a DJ. Why? What’s the big attraction? I thought everyone wanted to rap or play basketball. Go be like them other niggas. That how we all feel. Any DJ you know will tell you that they’ve wanted to be a DJ since they could remember. Even if they didn’t have the equipment or the crowd to prove it, they we always knew we would be DJ’s. By. ANY. Means.

I could tell you stories about my life and DJ’n but that’s not the reason behind this blog. The reason why I am doing this is because the new hollywood trend is for celebrities to DJ now. #DJDURLBLANKSTARE. I’ve heard Jermaine Dupri do it. That’s fine to me. I think producers and DJ’s are damn near the same thing. Then I remember hear Solange do it. I sucked my teeth immediately. I already thought she was washed as a singer. Now she wanna do parties now? Nah son. Then Alicia Keys Beatz started doing it. SMH. I was thinking maybe she been in the studio with Swizz too much and was touching stuff and thought she knew what she was doing. Then I thought maybe he was ghost djing for her… you know, make her a playlist, tell her when to bring it in, and that’s it. I’ve seen female “DJs” do that. I almost gave her a pass because she cold. Im not even gonna get into my rant about DJ PAULEY D.. smh…
Then these niggas started following suit.

The newest “DJ’s” now are Kanye and Lil Wayne. -____________________________-
I follow Kanye on twitter and saw a few tweets about him saying that he wanted to DJ a NYE party… and then his name would be “YEEZY WORLD PEACE”. Nigga please. Not only are you not a DJ, you’re making a mockery of US. This nigga is charging some dumb amount to spin a couple songs that he raps on and produced. I mean, he is getting money off of songs he already getting money off of, but damn. It’s the principle. I can only imagine how many times he played “Niggas In Paris” during his 3 hour set. I doubt there was no scratching, blending or mixing but you hardly get that from any of these DJ’s nowadays anyways. That’s another blog though.
Also, this New Year’s Eve brought out the DJ in Lil Wayne. SMH. This Nigga. Like I told Roni, both of these niggas need to have a seat. Catch a couch niggas. Nah. Catch a bed, with extra pillows on the side. Full recline. You can’t just stand behind some tables or laptop and instantly call yourself a DJ. Let the OG’s hear you say that. They already give me a hard time because I never carried crates for an older DJ, but I didn’t have no mentor back then. Once again, that’s another blog, but these guys gotta get all the way outta here.

Recently Spinerella, from Salt n Pepa sounded off about this on twitter and I agree with everything she said. I also blame these leeching promoters and club owners. There’s no integrity. I know you gotta get your money, but use the artist as a HOST, and get a real DJ that has became a celeb through his SKILL, not name. I just think all of it is wack. No one wants to hear Funk Flex rapping. So I don’t wanna see or hear about Lil Tunechi getting booked as a DJ. Ok?
